Here I am, New Year's eve, sat at mum and dad's in the living room watching Tony Robinson. I want to get this blog going properly, like Jof's, but don't have the commitment to keep it going! I also don't think there's anything interesting enough in my life at the moment that others would want to read about, but I'm going to try!
The reason I'm not out celebrating the arrival of yet another year is simple; I don't feel anything for the new year, it may bring new opportunities and fresh starts, but I have nothing to start fresh! I am in the middle of everything in my life at the moment; I am one term into my degree course, a few months into my job and years into a brilliant relationship. The only thing I can really say is that I shall try harder and not be such a lazy arse! I hate to admit it, but I must, I have become very lazy recently, while I see success around me, Rachel getting better and better at her job and beginning to get recognised for it (although not nearly enough!), classmates playing many gigs, which I am so jealous of and all the while I am just being dragged along by life. I do have ambitions, I just need to get on them.
My aims for this year are to become a much better musician, mainly playing drums but also other instruments and song writing. My one big ambition is Johnny Arrow and the Cheap Day Returns. This band HAS to make it! I so strongly believe it can, we have the tunes and the performance skills to get there, we just need that illusive big break! Jonathan is such a good song writer, I aspire to be able to write tunes and lyrics like him, I do try and over the last few months have written more lyrics than I ever had, some I think are brilliant but others are very disposable! I'll get tunes to them some day! Maybe that's what this next term will be about.
I'll try and write more from now on, I do enjoy it, although I'm trying to decide whether to post this on Facebook, do I really want to show this to everyone? Or am I a bit embarrassed?
