We've played Plug 'n' Play a few times but they've updated their sound system since we last played, it's a bad boy now, complete with huge mixing desk and floor to ceiling speakers. It gives a really professional sound, at least it did for the other bands, I didn't have the pleasure of hearing how we sounded through it, obviously. You could hear every little detail, especially from the drums, which made me a little nervous when we opened the night, it ran through my mind that every little mistake I made was amplified clearly for the audience to hear. I soon forgot and bashed the things like they pissed on my favourite shoes, as I normally do.
Plug 'n' Play is a great little venue, and better now with the new sound, but I think it needs to be improved further to make it better for bands and audiences. I think the bar should be updated a little, it looks like a tuc shop at a school fare at the moment, the stage could do with being enlarged, it's just too small for bands to put on a good show and there's a safety rail around it that just puts a barrier between the audience and the bands. If the stage is made a bit bigger, which they have the room for, and the bar updated then I think it would thrive as a local venue and attract a lot more people, not just fans of the bands that are playing.
I'm thinking about starting up a podcast, basically my blog but in audio form and with a bit of local music inbetween. I know I've been saying that I'm thinking of doing a lot of things recently but I never seem to do them. But I started this blog up and kept it running, it just took me time! So give me a while and I might cook something up :-)
I'm going out tonight for a meal with my family (and related partners) We always have a great time when we go out so I'm really looking forward to it, Ace!
Cheers guys, have a good week.
